Motor scooter on the roads?

The kind of scooters that dont need a license or petrol.

Can they only reach 35 Km/h?
Are there any that can go a bit faster?
Can i ride them on the roads?
What about the speed limits?

Yes, a lot of questions.
I am 17 and 6 months, in NSW Australia.
Please tell me what you know.

Thanks!

Are these all none license ans no rego or petrol too?

Apparently its illegal to ride an electric scooter without a license... im so confused

All vehicles need some sort of license to be operated on the road and they all must have registration. If you get caught operating an unregistered vehicle without a license you will be charged and you could end up with a criminal record and massive fines.

You can ride an electric scooter in Australia, on the roads providing:
- It's rated at no more than 200w in power
- It has pedals attached
- you wear a helmet (motorcycle or push bike)

These are the current laws.
BTW, these particular scooters if no more than 200w will not usually go faster than 30 kmp/h depending on body weight etc. Anything faster will require a license and registration.
There is more info on this at the incredibly confusing DOTARS website.
Good luck.

I'm not sure about the laws in Australia, but in many of the US states just a drivers license is required.
There are many electric scooters that go above 35 kmh. Most of Thompson scooters go around 42 kmh or a little faster depending upon the wt of the rider. I don't know if Thompson's fm California will ship a scooter to Australia. But I do know that for the money, they are the best (www.scootersnbikes.com).
In the US, scooters that only require a drivers license to ride are only allowed to go 30 mph or less on roads.
Sorry I'm not fm Australia and don't know their laws. But the internet might be of use.

What you are talking about, I think, is a MOPED. This is a class of vehicle that was created for the US under federal law. Australia, may or may not allow this. But a moped is generally a small engined scooter, usually under 50 cc, or otherwise restricted in power, so an essentially untrained rider (yeah, right) can ride it safely. In the US they are limited to city streets and go 30-35 MILES per hour, (not kph!)

The electric models are generally measures in kilowatts of power, and I am not all that familiar with them as a class.

A moped is generally not required to have a 2 wheel license, you do need a driver's license for a car, though. And you can usually get a moped only license (signs and traffic laws only, test)a year sooner than a car license.

Now all these laws are from the US of A point of view, and should not be confused with any laws you have 'Down There'. Contact the appropriate government agency for information, on local law, restrictions, rights and privileges, local to you.

Good luck, maybe after you get the info, you could come back here and post it so more information would be out there for the next person that comes along. Okay?

i would say get a yamaha aerox that will do 45 and if thats not fast enough you could change the exhalst that will that the top speed to 50 then you could change the rollers in it and that will take it to 55 and the best bit is the bike and the parts are all cheep and you are all legal for the road

well depending on the type scooter you get as to if you go on road . yes you can modify it to go faster 45 -50 tops in most part the speed limit dependt on your age

Peugeot Vivacity goes upto 80kms/h n yes you can ride on roads with helmet. Not sure if you need license for them though. Prob do cos it's 'motor'.
That's all i know.

i saw one that went 90mph it is great for street riding will keep drivers from yelling at you for going to slow

sent you an email.... its just easier..
