What do you think about the story in CT?

To all those who claim we as americans stand up for humanity and always do the right thing, what do you think of the story about a 78 year old man that was hit by a hit and run driver and people witnessed this and drove one, saw the man laying in the street and drove on. One car slowed down to get a good look before driving away, one person on a motor scooter circled the poor man serveral times before driving away and several pedistrians looked over before just walking away.

Where is the humanity in that? What does that say about the moral compus of Americans?

Thank you Next? To all those that assume this just goes on in CT. There was also an incident that did not make news in CA of a friend of mine who got in a horrific accident and had to walk 2 miles to get help bleeding profusely from her head where people slowed to look and continued to drive on...and not one did anything, the medics told her she was lucky to be alive and had she not been an athlete she would have died before making it to the phone to make her own call for help.

In the early 1960s, a young woman named Kitty Genovese came home late one night (this was in NYC) and parked her car and started walking toward her apt when she was attacked by a knife wielding man. She screamed and at least 50 plus people heard her and opened their windows to see what was going on. The man fled, but the woman, weakened from loss of blood, was only able to crawl toward her building.
The man didn't leave and when he saw no one was coming, he went back and finished her off, this time with even more screams and more people watching. NOT ONE of them called the police! They watched her being murdered and not one of them bothered to pick up the phone; I thought that sort of behavior was in the past but I guess it's still alive and well and shame on every one of those people. God forgive them.

It's terrible, awful, despicable, etc. Not one person called 911 either. The least anyone could do was to call 911. The hit and run driver is ultimately to blame for leaving the scene of an accident. We all should look within ourselves and think about if something like that happened to a family member of ours and how we would feel. It's time to bridge the gap that exists between people.
Hartford is a poor and tough city. But it's no excuse.

i believe the tape shows that at about a minute after the accident, people started coming to help.

I've seen a couple of bad accidents - it takes longer than you would think to understand what just happened and to figure out what to do.

its doesnt really say anything about Americans in general. there are a.s.s.h.o.l.e.s. that come from every country race and background all over the world.you know that as well as I do.

CT sucks. Unfortunately a lot of people in this country don't care about anything but themselves anymore.

thats screwed up! I hope none of those people can sleep tonight... but they probably will. grr!!

It is disgusting. Makes me sad that people like that live in this country
