If my motor scooter will turn on but not retain battery does this mean that i may need to buy a new fuse?

You may need a new fuse depending upon how the charging system works on your motor scooter. It is also possible that you may need a new battery as well. You may want to try charging the battery if you have a battery charger. If not I think you should get one. It may be a good idea. To have one. That way you could recharge the battery in your motor scooter. And maybe save a few dollars on having to buy a new battery just yet. You may also want to consider having the charging system part of your motor scooter checked out. There could be a problem there. Which would cause your battery to not hold a charge as well. The charging system in motor scooters usually runs off the magneto... Which is found inside the flywheel housing. They operate on the same idea as a snowmobile or a motorcycle charging system. What the magneto consists of is a series of copper wire wound on small spools. Each spool is seperate and they make a circular pattern all the way around. These copper wires are the actual magneto itself. If this were to go bad it would cause your motor scooter to not be charging. The magneto is replaced as a assembly all in one piece. (This is something for you to consider). But I would invest in a battery charger first and see if your battery will take a charge. If so then you'll save yourself a few dollars for a bit. If the battery will not hold a charge check to see if you can add water to your battery... Some batteries you are able to do this to. You can tell by looking to see if you have some kind of removable caps or vents on the top of your battery. If so just remove the caps or whatever it has and add good clean water to your battery. Usually you only have to add enough water so the water level is uo to the bottom of the ring inside of the battery cell. The cells are seperate and are usually rounrd in appearence. The inside of the cell extends a bit down into the inside of the battery. The place where the cell ends is where you add the water up to. Other batteries are sealed for the life of themselves. In which case you are not able to add any water to them. You may however still charge these types as well. If all else fails you will have to buy a new battery. That is all you can do. Sounds like you need a new battery - the one you have can no longer hold a charge. I don't think it has anything to do with fuses.

take a good look at the battery wires and make sure there is no corrosion at the terminal ends where the wire is attached to the clamps

did they charge your battery when you bought it if not get a 1 amp trickle charger and charge the battery over night
