Buying a motor scooter in KS. Will I need to tag it? Do I need a drivers license? This is for street driving.? |
I'm looking at 49cc. I think all the requirements are met for not having a cycle, but a scooter. Anybody out there from KS who has a scooter and dealt with the DMV? A motor bicycle cycle, or moped, is every device having two tandem wheels or three wheels, which may be propelled by either human power or helper motor, or by both, and which has - A motor which produces not more than 3.5 brake horsepower; a cylinder capacity of not more than 130 cubic centimeters; an automatic transmission; and the capability of a maximum design speed of no more than 30 miles per hour. All the information that you will need to know is right here. Some scooters are big enough that you need a motorcycle license for in KS and others don't. Whether they shift automatically or not doesn't matter. Ask your local dealer or police/sherif's dept. |
