What about Federal Tax Credits to motorcyclists?

There are tax credits offered to people who purchase hybrids but why aren't there similar financial breaks given to motorcyclists (& motor scooters)? After all, two wheeled machines already get spectacular mpg (40-60)... and with relatively small engines they emit far less pollution than even hybrids.

I don't know of any but we should start a petition, and call our congressmen about it. Because thats what it takes to get it done.

Politics during an election year? Most politicians will say yes to get elected, and most voters will put them back in office when they do give any tax credits.
If there are any surpluses, they should be used to repair our schools especially in the inner cities. Any credits will go a long, long way when we use it for school infrastructure.

Actually, they claim motorcycles are as polluting or more polluting than cars, especially since most bikes (AFAIK) don't have catalytic converters or emission cheaters like cars. My first car beat emissions by having an air pump that injected clean air into the exhaust as it entered the exhaust manifold, therefore 'diluting' the exhaust.
Mileage..that depends on the bike. Some bikes only get between 30-35 mpg because of the engine size, configuration and what they are milking out of it performance-wise. Mine gets about 50 mpg and the little Rebels get about 70 mpg. Some of the Big Dogs get about the same mileage as a 4 or 6 cyl car.
