I need some free advice on which one to buy or which ones to avoid. Please give good reasons. I'm getting fixed feed back on the same question. I recently purchased a CJ750 with a side car. Comes from ZMW out of China. The type of motorcycle looks like a BMW or Old German type. Story's i keep hearing is that parts are hard to come by. I'm not having any luck myself so far in finding someone to look it over. My advise is to check out the background on what your buying an see who services it an where parts an repair place are located. Good luck. One thing you need to consider is availability of parts. I have seen tons of sub $1k Chinese scooters and motorcycles but finding parts for these generic vehicles has to be a problem. Generally gas stations, swap meets, and pep boys sell them-- but will they be there for you when something goes wrong? A cheap Chinese scoot may seem like a good call- until it needs a part.
I ride vintage Vespas and have friends who have had great luck with Bajaj (Indian scoots). They run ~$3k for an '05 or '06 and Bajaj USA has made significant inroads with retail sales and service. The value (4 speed, 4 stroke, 150cc) is also excellent. |
