Should I get a car or scooter/motorbike? |
Since in New Zealand the minimum age to drive a car and other motor transportations is 15. I'm going to be 15 in 5 months. So, I'm kind of ready to choose. But I , honestly, don't know what should I choose. Since my high school is 20 minutes drive away and I'm involved in many sports plus my dad wants to relax and forget to send me to here and there and everywhere! My father prefers me to drive the car for safety and shelters from rain. My mother doesn't mind. For the scooter it is easier to find parking, can escape long jams, and blah blah. The list is forever! But the only drawbacks it can be hazardous, I can't carry a passenger and nor can I handle lots of stuff especially on the holiday trips. Oh, this is so dreamy. Ready for clouds of advice in no time! ;o) I would definately get a car, because it shelters you and it's safer (as if you didn't already know~! you mentioned them lol) And when you said that you can escape long traffic jams, it is very dangerous to be doing this... (and cars are safer because you CAN'T weave in and out of traffic!) Unless you are very confident with your abilty to ride one I would avoid it. I have seen some pretty decnt riders messed up so you are about 3 times more likely to crash than if you have been riding motorcycles as a kid etc. For me,i will probably choose a car,it is better than any other transportation...safer,faster...easier.. Get a car first then work on getting a scotter so you will have both. Get a piaggio & see all the guys line up to get a ride home from school. i think u are right in thinking ... well if u were where i was i would definitely have said get a bike ... but u said u are in NZ .. i have been there so i would suggest you get a car only ... first ... it has four wheels so u dont get too tired driveng it around .... second it is covered which i think is a really good thing considering you dont want to drop ur itenary because of rain or being too cold outside ... then ur teen .. u lll definitely want to carry ur friends around and have music and all those stuff , so car will be good ... and then yes u cant go on holidays on a bike ... Go with the car, safety the main reason, convenience of carrying others and weather additional reasons. I know a couple people hurt bad in motorcycle accidents that were not their fault. When someone turns in front of you or into you it does not matter who is at fault.....you get hurt. Good Luck. Buy a scooter and then from time to time steal your parents's car!!! I have both. A car and a scooter. The car is more usable and is very close to the same in costs as a scooter. If you are having the scooter maintained and have to insure..the car is very close. If you are using the scooter for commuting and saving many many miles then the scooter pays for itself. But bad weather is never fun on a scooter. Get the car first..then have a scooter for fun and when the fuel prices go up. |
