Is it Legal.............?

Hey!
I was thinkin about buyin this motor scooter
for 1.000$...But i just wanted to know
if it would be legal for me, a 14 year old, to ride it on
the streets.
Thanks!

Yes u can ride it
If it is a scooter no need to have a license.
good luck and enjoy it.

Nope, you have to have a drivers license.

Heres a link to some really good info:

yes it is only if its under 50cc more then that you would need a license

I think u have to be 16 yrs. before riding on the street. Some places might be different.

You don't need a license if the engine is under 50 cc's. But most aren't. So, you'll PROBABLY need a license. But if the engine is small enough, you don't. Ask the seller how many cc's the engine is.

Nothing motorized without license plates is legal to ride in the street. The underage thing is something else (16 most palces for learner's permit to drive anything). Sorry (dirt bike the answer).

Maybe, depends on cc

No.

It is different for each state. As far as I know, you have to be 15 to get a permit. These let you drive a motor cycle or scooter under 250 cc. Thats why the Honda Rebel was so popular. If you have the permit it is legal to drive one as long as it has all that stuff the D.O.T. requires. Good luck and ride safe...

u should check ur local dmv

If you don't have a driver's license, you can't ride any motorized vehicle on the street.

If the vehicle needs to be registered with the DMV, you can't ride it on the street without a license anyway.

If it does not need to be registered with the DMV, it is probably for "off road" (ie public road) use, and you can't ride it on the street.

Short answer - NO.

You have to check the laws in your state as they are all different. Skeater if you spend $1000 on a schooter that will be the worst purchase made. If it is used and you just do not like walking or riding a normal bike. $500 or no deal---OK...If your state gives you permission to drive this ting on the street. You will be run over in two weeks... You better hve a helmut on...

depends on what state your in but in most states you have to have your liscense or the cops will impound that thing in no time; unless you live in wyoming where no one lives there so you will be okay. you would have to check your state law.

Where I live it has to be under 50cc's to not have to have a license.

Well, to be safe I would suggest that you contact your local DMV, not the police department, but the DMV to get the laws on Scooter Riding. Look, a gas scooter is meant to be riden on the streets and not the sidewalks. Therefore, you need to know the Traffic laws because they apply to all motorized vehicles.

I know what it is like to want to have one of these, just recently an elderly fellow of about 76 wanted one of these but his eyes was failing him. HIs family and I talked him out of it. The thing is, these things weren't around in abundance when he was a kid, and it looks like so much fun. This applies to you as well, they look like a lot of fun. However, truth be told, they can be dangerous too. Now, you may know how to ride them and ride them well, but you still have to know the traffic laws, and you have to know how to LOOK OUT FOR THE OTHER GUY (LIKE CAR OR A BUS). I just had a friend get hit by a man driving a car. It killed his bike with so much damage, he practically had to pick up his bike and carried it home. He lost some flesh on his leg, a deep cut in his head and a broken thumb. Now, he was not in the wrong, the man driving the car was in the wrong, but still his head hit the pavement after his body was flung over the car.

Look, I have a car, scooter and motorcycle. And, I have taken spills on those bikes. It's not a pretty sight.

Failure to comply with your DMV laws could rack up in hefty fines so just do yourself a favor and check in with them first before buying a scooter.

Happy Hunting and
Good Luck

Make sure you can get a bill of sale so you can get a title at the ohio bmv.. It will be wise to talk to the people at the BMV before you buy. This way you wont be stuck with a scooter that is not allowed on the roads. Trust Me, I know..the scooter must be road worthy or no plates will be issued. there will be a tag somewhere on the scooter indicating that it pass DOTsafety etc..Also you will have to get insurance . mine was only $75.00 a year. so you will have the proof of insurance if you are stopped by the police. have fun..

In Iraq with $1000 explosive vest en-route to kill lot of people you don't know this isn't a problem if it gets you into heaven quicker but elsewhere the cash value in riding any scooter, for heavens sake, must not threaten safety of people you don't know. Fourteen years of age tends to be on the, um,
destructive side of cautious. I didn't read anything about you
thinking about getting rider insurance like cautious folks do.
