Mobility Scooter loss of charge and range?

My wifes mobility scooter used to be able to do 15 miles approx on one battery charge, now it will only do half a mile. I have put new batteries on it but this makes no difference. Help would be very much appreciated as she is unable to get out and about without it. Thank you.

Batteries are new gel type and are fully charged each time the scoter is used

these scooters don't have an alternator. Check the cables on the battery and make sure they are clean and tight and also check the recharger.

It sounds like the battery is not charging, new alternator, perhaps get it tested.

Ive never heard of a mobility scooter having an alternator????? cars yes but electric scooters i think not some how??

the only thing i can think of is have the batteries got enough water in them??

Hi, My mum has had the same problem with her scooter. It has something to do with the battery not being able to hold the charge...

Sounds like the control system has failed and the batteries are discharging. You will need to have the machine checked out by an engineer.
