Mobility Scooter for Overweight?

Hi,
I've put on some weight in the past couple of years, whilst at college, and I get really tired and upset walking long distances. I've just started my masters course at a new college, which I has a really spread out campus. There are no shuttle buses like at my old university, and I can't handle the hills and stairs at my size. I've tried diets but they don't work and I can't stick with jsut eating crappy vegetables and celery - a girl's got to eat well! - and I'm too busy for gyms. I really want to know whether I can get a decent mobility scooter for getting me around - I don't want to miss out on classes or socialising by not being able to move about. Does anyone know how much a good scooter will cost? Can you get them second hand? Also, can you get health insurance to pay for something like this? I'd like something cool that can scoot me around quickly and not look frumpy - any advice?

You don't need to be so negative - it's not like i eat all the time, and I would just want this to travel between buildings, not all the time like in class or anything. Yeah i like food, but i'm not some kind of monster who doesnt do anything but sit around getting bigger. I can't get a bicycle because i cant ride one or balance on it, and id get even more tired riding it. Thanks to the one person who gave a useful link so far!

walk you stupid fat cow before you end up losing your legs, and eat right...may be hard work but it's worth it.

walking to class looks to be your largest form of physical activity.. don't give it up!

You dont need that, your fat for a reason and i willing to bet its because your lazy. One of those scooters will only make you fatter. Put some effort into getting healthy and you want need a damn scooter.

sounds like you need to walk, if you get a scooter you may never walk again you will depend on that scooter to get around

Are you kidding me? You are that big in college? Obviously you haven't suffered enough yet to take the weight off. Eat some more. Gain more weight. Become home-bound. Get sick and have to have the walls of the house you live in removed to get you out. If you STILL can't get motivated to lose the weight (a girls gotta eat--talk about denial!!) then you will die and be buried in a grand piano case--if you can fit into it.

Here's what you are headed for: http://badgas.co.uk/moments/moment_089.j...

Sorry, there isn't anyway you will look anything other than pathetic on a scooter. If your size prevents you from enjoying mobility, then what kind of social life to you think you are going to have? And I'm a good size myself, so this isn't in any manner a 'put down' . But, I'm also close to 60 and I don't use a scooter. You can cut down on portion size and enjoy your food and maybe take off some pounds that way. Could you possibly use a bike, that's much cooler and no one will comment on that. Really, walking is good for you and you want to look into shoes that will support your ankles and knees and maybe that will help. Insurance will not pay for it unless you are in the 400 lb and over class and a doctor says you need it. This, dear, is one case where for sure, you cannot have your cake and eat it too!

Well if you really want to loss the weight you put on get a bike then you can get there faster and loss some pounds. That's what i would do
