I would like to design my own mobility scooter?

Go for it! My hubby is disabled and what's already about is not always quite the right thing. At least if you design your own you know that it's to your needs and tastes. Be prepared for knockbacks and failure at the prototype stages though!

what is stopping you? draw up the plans or get some plans from the net and run them past a motorcycle mechanic or two.

i drive around on a three wheel electric harley , with a flat bed , from china . We call it pepe ...100 km to one charge .

I would love to have some modifications done
to my mobility scooter, but have been told it would be costly!
The one I have cost over a thousand pounds, to get one with a permanent cover over it, another thousand!!
I would like a hood, just like on a pram, so if I
get caught out in bad weather, all I have to do is pull it up.

My suggestion would be make it a 'sit in' rather than a 'sit on' type and you have a distinct advantage from all the other existing ones from the start. That's the key, have a definite difference (make a better mousetrap) not just another variation. Good back support is a critical factor lacking in all scooters already on the market. After all who uses a mobility scooter? Those people with limited or no mobility and a great percentage of those people have back problems to one extent or another, therefore good back support and comfort is key.
