The law is stupid!!?

My grandma was driving back from the local miners welfare in her mobility scooter when she gets stopped for riding back drunk, admittedly she likes a drink while playing bingo on a friday but she only gets plastered while at home, anyway from what she says they asked her to stand up and get of her scooter which she refused and tried to drive off, they arrested her for being drunk and disorderly and said she tried to run the female police women over. she spent the night in the cells for nothing, she's a 54 year old women who has paided taxes for years and this is how she gets treated. make me sick.

We was thinking that but she's not disabiled.

I think she has been rather a naughty girl druck in charge of a disabled scooter not disabled tries to run over a scuffer. frank.ly I can not stop laughing

Well... hm. Unfortunately, it sounds like your Grandmother got the correct charges (except possibly for 'trying to run over' the police officer).

You can get a DUI on a wheelchair, bike, or skateboard. And if you run away from the cops, you're going to go to jail. Period. I'm sorry it happened, but unfortunately that's not stupid law, it's just a bad decision on your grandmother's part.


Proud: By the way, he never says she's disabled. She could be, or she might just have knee, back, or foot trouble, or trouble catching her breath. You don't have to be disabled to drive a mobility scooter.

if your gran would have done what they asked they wouldnt have arrested her,but i do agree inone respect she should have never arrested her,just helped her home.

Reading between the lines, your grandma seems like a pain in the neck. Why did she draw attention to herself, obviously pie eyed. What was she doing in disability scooter if she is not disabled, I hate to ask.

DUI is DUI is DUI. Next time, grandma should wait till she gets closer to home to spend her food stamp or welfare money on booze.

Not stupid.. If your mother had swerved out into oncoming traffic she could have caused serious problems. Be glad she only got ONE night in jail. Disabled or not she had no business getting behind anything with wheels after drinking. And if she could not stand for disability reasons all she had to do was tell them that. If she is able to stand they could make her take the test I've seen it done.

She was not disable I think you said so as a offcer she shoulh have comply with the officerd request

I don't see what you're complaining about... you should be thankful that she only got 1 night in a cell...
1) She had been drinking
2) She didn't step off the scooter
3) She tried to run away

those are some pretty bad offences
