Can this make me sick?

i was cooking some dogs on my mini charcoal grill while washing my bike but when i took a bite it tasted like charcoal, not lighter fluid. im thinkin it was because i forgot to open the vents and i sorta smoked them. anyway could that make me sick. i dont wanna miss golf tomarrow.

yea it tasted like wood, i put some mesquite in too so i guess thats why. i feel fine, so thanks for the assurance.

I don't think you have to worry about it. Charcoal itself is relatively harmless and if it was cooked well enough then there is nothing that would harm you more than the fact that it was a hot dog. You'll be fine.

If you used lighter fluid to lite the coals and the fluid didn't have a chance to completely burn off it is possible that's what you were tasting.

Charcoal is just wood so if you taste a smoky flavor then just enjoy a smoked hot dog

Otherwise toss out the dogs and cook something else on the grill, it's never worth getting sick over
