What is the best way to teach a dog how to use a bike attachment?

I have a bike attachment for my dog. We use to use one for our old border collie but she was easy to train for it and loved it. But Benji seems to be scared of it. How do I get him to use it with confidence?

He's the type of dog that would prefer a nice sunny patch on the grass rather than a walk of any kind. But we still walk him heaps. But it would be nice to ride to the shops and do a mini shop.

Slowly condition the dog to the bike, similar to training dogs to leashes or car rides. I would hook the dog to the bike and not go anywhere. Just let the dog walk around (or lay around) and do as it pleases. Do this for a few days. Next, walk the bike a few feet and stop, again letting the dog do as it pleases when the bike is motionless. Eventually increase the distances the bike is moved, and begin to actually mount the bike. Eventually, the dog should get the hang of being attached to the bike and traveling with you. Lots of praise (verbal/treat/hands on, whichever your dog prefers) help too!

I use to have a dog just ike your Benji, all I did was atach the dog to the leash, put the leash in the bike and walked the bike in circles in my backyard, it may take a week or two
