Vespa Lovers!? Vespa LX 150 or Vespa LX 50?

I hope a lot of you respond. I used to ride go-carts and mini-bikes when I was a teen, but that is as far as my non-car driving has gone. I am a little nervous about speed and how I will be able to handle it. I live in a small town that has a radius of about 6-7 miles and 15,000 people. It is very easy to get around town and speed limits are low that is why I was leaning toward the LX 50 (not to mention the price of them). However, I know that once I get the hang of the 50 and feel confident in riding, I may feel confined to town and be unable to venture out. I was wondering what has been your experience with the 50 or 150, and what do you feel would be the better choice? Also wondering, how long they last? I have heard great things about the reliablity, but I'm wondering from owners how long have they seen them last?

Simple answer is that you will be fine with the 50 until you have been riding for a few months and you'll wish you had the ability to overtake and pull away faster. I have a 125 and it can keep up with the traffic on busy roads and even go on a 120 mile trip in the summer with no difficulty.
If you service them they can last for ever - but watch out they need quite regular servicing which can be pricey. I have spent more in the last 2 years on servicing than on fuel ( and in UK fuel costs a lot).
