How do I stop thinking about food???



A couple weeks before school dances (prom is coming up) i try on my dress to see what i need to do to make it fit best. this time i saw that i needed to diet a little bit, maybe lose a couple pounds nothing drastic) before the dance (in 3 weeks). so i started watching what i ate, and suddenly i am obsessing about food! seriously, every second of the day i am thinking about eating, not eating, foods i'm craving, and so forth. i have actually ended up eating worse than i usually do! i have no clue how to correct this. suddenly i feel bad about myself eating, which makes me think about exercising obsessively, then i obsess about food even more!! i can't return the dress and it doesn't look that bad on me, but i am in a serious downward spiral. i try to take my mind off it by doing things where i'm not around food like bike riding, mini-golfing, going to the beach, and watching movies, but somehow all my thoughts are preoccupied with food!! what do i do??

You may not be eating enough. Dietary restriction can lead to preoccupation with food, its a symptom of starvation.
