How do I keep skateboarders off my wheelchair ramp?

I live in a trailer park. The people across the way from me have 14 children. (Seriously!!!) They keep riding their scooters and skateboards up the wheelchair ramp in front of my house.

I understand that kids need to play. Trust me, they have a basketball hoop they play with (and fight over) at all hours of the day and night. I put up with it because, well, there's nothing I can do to stop it.

Well, I need my wheelchair ramp. (well, my mother does)
I'm afraid they'll get hurt and I'll be sued.

I tried talking to the parents.
They pulled the "No habla ingles" card.
Nevermind that I can HEAR them speaking English and laughing as I leave.

The manager just shrugs, they don't speak English after all!

So, ideas please?

I tell the kids to get off the ramp when I catch them, but I work, and they can be hurt at any time.

well im 16 and i used to love to skate board....
one of the things u can actally do is get some rocks and scatter them or fix your ramp to where there are little indetations to where they cant use it any more.

go to this link... this is what im actually trying to explain. lol i
hope i helped...

put a sign no trust passing think that will keep you from getting sued. you can move.

If you put up a sign, that relieves you of all liability if the kids get hurt. Just make sure it is visible and put it in a couple languages so it can be easily understood. That way you have your ramp without any legal risks.

That's tough. But hey, it's your property, right - you own the land and maintain the ramp?

Then it's trespassing - it's your home, and you're right that you could be sued if one of the kids were injured. (It's called trespassers' liability - even if the kids have no right to be on your property, they can still sue you.)

Go tell your neighbors that you're going to call the police if their kids use the ramp again. My Spanish is non-existent, but I'd mime picking up the phone and saying "police." That's usually the kind of word that everyone knows.

Then call. The very next time.

Do I think the police should be dragged into disputes between neighbors? Not at all. But I don't see that you have much alternative. If the parents won't take responsibility and the kids don't respect your (repeated) requests, then you have little choice.

You might also keep a log of every incident and your response. Nothing serious - just date, what the kids did, what you did.

Good luck.

Smear **** and vomit over the ramp, or just find a dead animal and put it there....
better yet, everytime you find them playing with it, throw the corpse on THEM.
they'll soon learn to stop.

Put a big sign that says no HICSPanICs

You need to talk to the mgr and find out about the property outside your house; in our trailer park all outside property belongs to the park so none of it is private; the kids in my neighborhood made a ramp in front of my house and had a ball using it but the parents took it down because they were worried about an accident just make sure it is not your property because if it is then all you need to do is get the parents of all the kids to sign a waiver (have someone write it in Spanish) absolving you of any damages if they hurt themselves.

Call lthe cops and have them come out to talk to them, make sure you tell them you need a spanish speaking officer. Some parents with that many children would rather not do any parenting because it's easier. You have every right to be concerned about them getting hurt! And if they did they would probably try to sue you!
