Pros and Cons of learning to ride a scooter? |
not the kid scooter I bought a scooter when I was 17, 'cause it was all I could afford. It was cheaper to ride into the city than the train fare, and a lot less crowded(Except when I had to give one of my female colleagues a lift home). It gave me independance, & as my riding experience grew I found that I could go for a ride down the coast on the weekends. I soon found that I could go for hundreds of miles for a couple of gallons of petrol. When I decided to leave the city, my trusty little scooter took me and all my earthly belongings out to the bush, about 400 miles without a mechanical problem. They just go and go, and need very little maintenance. A bit cold and wet sometimes, but a plastic raincoat rolled up in the luggage pack seemed to fix that problem. Really, a small price to pay for being able to get around without paying a fortune to do it. Pros: you can now ride a scooter :] u can get killed...when i needed a liver/kidney transplant the doctors called spring/summer "transplant season"...sure worked for me... Pro having the freedom to ride,Cons,Getting mashed by some clown in a chelsea tractor. Con... you'll look like a total nerd (if that kind of stuff matters) pros = you can get from a to b 1: get on it Have you got a scooter yet?,If not ,go to a large reputable dealer who has been trading for a number of years, you will be offered different deals and finance,if needed, and the necessary advice and instruction can be obtained at the same time.Practising your riding skills is best done on deserted lanes or roads, but an old abandoned airfield is a real boon. The only tip i would give you is---always know what is behind you,use the mirrors, you should have two, especially look behind before pulling away from the kerb.I wish you many years of happy riding. The ordinary twist and go automatic scooters are best to start on. pros.no traffic jams you can ride in bus lanes, costs less than a bus, you will agravate the car drivers who cant drive in the bus lane Being seen on a scooter? Big con. If you're going to do it, do it properly, and learn to ride a real motorbike. It's not that much harder, and it's way more fun. the con is |
