This is not a gloomy, "woe is me" kind of poem!?

This is just to lighten up the mood in here a bit:

What were his parents thinking, to name him such a name?
Don't they know that kids are cruel to kids who aren't the same?
"Rufus" by itself is bad, his middle name is worse:
"Edgar" - a name for a grandpa. Together, his name made a curse.
"Rufus Edgar" - there's a name that just screams "Beat me up!"
So Rufus picked a nickname that wasn't so corrupt.
"Call me Scooter" Rufus said, before the kids could start.
Call him "Scooter" those kids did, and warmed the teacher's heart.
She's so glad she never had to break up any fights.
All the kids are Scooter's friends - except the girl who bites.
She's not friends with anyone who doesn't take a hint.
They tease her badly, for her name, no joke,
is Ella Fent.

Now tell me that didn't make you smile!

Before my mom got her highschool teaching certification, she taught at a pre-school, and there was a little boy there who left her completely knackered by the end of the day. His name was Rufus Edgar, but he walked in on the first day of school, stuck out his little hand for my mom to shake, and declared, "Call me Scooter!"

That was a nice light hearted story. I liked this line:

All the kids are Scooter's friends - except the girl who bites.
