Could this happen...................?

awhile ago, in the news, i saw some kids playing on one of those roundabouts in a park, and one of them had his motor scooter on it, and he was using the back wheel to spin it while his friends were on the roundabout.

my question is, if someone did that for long enough, could the speed of the roundabout cause the engine to overheat, and possibly catch fire/explode.

if it ended up where the roundabout was spinning the wheel faster than the engine normally would.

its possible,,because the speed of the runabout might over power the scooter,,and it could happen,,good luck.

i know a little bit,,thanks. Report It

NOT LIKELY as the scooter has a limiting govenor built in and you can cause the engine to over rev, but the chain may break. (we tried something very similar in the race shop for fun one night).

It definately would, and you would not have to go fast either. The motor scooters are cooled by air flow over the engine. Without the proper air flow from the scooter moving forward the engine will overheat.

No, nothing will happen to the scooter. The engine will only rev so high and the scooter will stay at one speed, if anything the scooter will just run out of gas.

Not likely.
