After the completely transparent pardon of Scooter Libby, and the ineffectiveness after Katrina, and his being directly responsible for the deaths of our loved ones in Iraq, this spoiled little rich kid needs to be brought up on charges! 1. To impeach there must be some violation of law.
2. Commuting the confinement of this guy is legal and with in the authority of the president.
3. It is not the presidents job to respond to a nation emergency, that is the responsibility of FEMA
4. GW Bush has not killed a single soldier, it's the Iraqi's!!
You should be come informed "Before" you make untrue uneducated and or uninformed statements. It was not a pardon, it was a commuting of a prison sentence.
The pardon may come later, but if you're going to criticize, at least get your facts straight.
And the problems with Katrina, according to friends in NOLA, were due to corruption in the LOCAL government, not the federal government, which had in fact given plenty of funds for the fixing of those levees -- unfortunately, the local LA government didn't use the money that way.
"Directly responsible for the death of our loved ones in Iraq" -- hm, I think the people DIRECTLY responsible would be the people who are currently shooting, blowing up, and in other ways trying to kill our soldiers.
Do you really think that if there was any possibly successful way to impeach Bush, someone wouldn't have already attempted it? He didn't pardon Libby. H e just commuted his sentence, so he won't be able to testify against him and Cheney before congress. I ask the same question myself, and there seems to be no answer. The buck stops at the top and that does mean that Bush is directly responsible for all the missteps taken during his presidency. The man cannot be stopped because our elected officials prefer to do nothing then representing the will of the American people. Good luck on impeachment. Look, it isn't going to happen. I will agree that he has done wrong, for he is a moron, but he has done no more wrong than any of the others in the past.
Let's just go back one Prez. Mr. Slick Willy Clinton pardoned over 400 convicted drug dealers, thieves, his brother, terrorists....the list goes on and on. He sent our young Marines in a retaliatory strike just about the time he was caught with his member in Monica's mouth. How convenient. I was a Marine at the time, and I was sickened that he sent my brothers into a conflict to die just to take the heat off his inability to remain faithful (though I can understand the desire for other women being that Hillary is quite a dog...WOOF WOOF.) All you Bush bashers (I bash him plenty myself) want to pin this all on one person. The president didn't do this all alone. He had overwhelming support from both sides to go in and take care of some BINNESS! However, in the PCBS world we live in, we sent our finest into battle with one hand tied behind their backs. When going into battle, one must use all force necessary to bring the enemy to submission. Read some Machiavelli (spelling may be off there). Present a pretty face to those whom you rule, but be ruthless without end to your enemy.
Impeachment? Please. Everyone throws that word around like it's no big deal. It is huge. If every president that deserved it had to actually experience it, well, the list would be long. There is one great thing to keep in mind in all of this...if you're in the right camp, this will all be over soon, and eternity will be a beautiful place. Sorry for the seemingly or practically incoherent group of thoughts and run-on sentences here. As you can probably see, I have no idea what I'm talking about.
By the way, did LIBBY actually commit a crime? One could safely venture to say that the prosecuting attorney committed crimes by witholding evidence and continuing an investigation on false merits. Libby did nothing wrong. Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to have no recollection of a crime that was never committed. Gooday! It would be easier to have you arrested for stupidity. All this with the opposition in the majority in the legislature.
We the people have been horns waggled and hogtied by politicians beholden to a controlling cooperate elite that is the beneficiary of cow towing politicians on both sides of the aisle.
If you have ever wondered how the German people ever managed to allow the 3rd Reich to gain a foothold over common decency and reason you should have had your answer in glaring headlights at the executive suspending Habeas Corpus and the Legislature and the Judiciary allowing that fundamental transgression of fundamental humane rights to stand.
Impeachment is out of the question in the face of an executive with such powers of impunity.
Provisions for the Suspension of Habeas Corpus have been provided in the past for the purpose of dealing with a crisis situation as may have been the case for a few weeks on the heals of 9/11 but our present situation in no way justifies arrest without warrant, incarceration without recourse to trial or representation or charges, holding prisoners in complete secrecy and subjecting them to means of interrogation that can only be described as cruel and unusual and classifying evidence as secret privilege on an ongoing policy of trumped up war powers on an ongoing basis to perpetuity in the so called 鈥淲ar on Terror鈥?
Democracy is a dangerous venture at best , sacrificing the constitutions guarantees of rights and liberty and freedom for the sake of personal safety flies in the face of the intentions of the founders of the Constitution and the sacrifices of patriots in the interim leading to the present. to late for that. |
