My son was bit by a pit bull, should I report this? My son was on a bike, recieved only scratches, bruising.? |
He went over their house to go swimming (they invited him) and as he entered their yard on his bike, the pit bull attacked him on the ankle. His ankle is bruised, a bit swollen, and has scratches. Should I report this? I am afraid this dog will attack one of the other neighborhood kids, it is a pitbull and they are known to be aggressive. Yes. In many states they need it documented. I believe in my state, Illinois, they have warnings until the state acts on the case. Imagine if something worse happens to the next child and nothing is done about it because there isn't an earlier documentation of something happening. Yes, they need to know that this is not okay and they need to keep that dog locked up. Yes you should. As much as I love dogs, I don't like irresponsible owners. This may not even be the first time this dog bit someone. The owners need to know there are consequences to having an out of control animal. If your neighbor dosent do anything to correct the problem and taking preventive messures, then I say report it. Depending on your city laws they may give your neighbor a citation, however chances are unlikely since your child and the dog were behind a fence in the yard of the animals owners. Really they should know better than to have even let this happen! Why did they leave the dog out if they were expecting company? Well, i think that the dog should be taken care of immediately, unless its owner is doing something to prevent it from happening again. If the owner isn't taking any actions, talk to the owner, and then report it if you are not able to get some agreement with the owner. Pitbulls can be agressive, but they shouldn't be locked up in a cage for their whole lives. Suggest to the owner of getting a fence if they don't already have one, and tell them to please keep their dog on a leash so as to not harm any other kids. ;^D i hope this helped you! PLEASE dont report this poor animal. Pits are so misunderstood... This dog was only defending his territory. Its not the dogs fault. For all he know your son was an evil ax murderer coming to kill his family. If anything, speak to the family. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont blame the dog for doing natural doggie things and get him put to sleep when it was your son that did something wrong. You dont just ride into a dog's territory on a bike and not expect to get bitten. |
