I need an adult size bmx bike, what size? 20" or 24" ? |
im 5'5" about 185lbs 26 years old, i tried a 20" bike the other day, i thought it was kinda small even though it is the same size i had when i was about 16, i am almost the same height now as i was then, just got beefier. I wasnt really comfortable on the bike. I used to have a dyno nitro, i loved that bike, my crazy mom gave it away to some kid when i was like 20 and now i want to get back into riding because it was really fun! yes i know i should go to my local bike shop and i will, just want to know from others P.O.V. whats a good size, not what the bike shop says. I will be doing mainly street riding but also off roading, i will probably stop by the local dirt tracks. i need something durable. Should i get a 20" or 24" bike based on my size. what should i get, name some brands/models too! After describing your measurements, I would still 20'' bike would be straight for you. Those 24'' bikes are actually worse, if you think you've gotten :beefier" over the years, because those bigger bikes, have bigger wheels which are skinny too, which means you could bend the rims easier. Costing you more money. Go with the 20'' but get a seat that has a built in lean back on it. It should give you more room. You can even try different handle bars, that could help the bike feel better to you! Source(s): http://cycleworkscapitola.com/page.cfm?p... Definitely go with the 24". If the bike is too small, you'll waste too much energy pedaling. Dont worry about it being too big, either. I have a 26" which rides great, and I'm only 5'1!! Adults tend to be more comfortable on a longer frame. You will want a PRO size bike probably an XL or XXL. I think GT make a 21.5" frame it would be a Power series PRO XL. If you have some bux get an Ultrabox. In Cruisers I prefer the Redline proline series and they feel nice. And their components are quite nice. Free Agent is nice too. I have a cromo frame and I can't kill it. And I really like my Norco as it has a short rear triangle and it lifts up nice over jumps. Its easy to scooter. |
