There's this family that lives diagonally from the back of our house. Their kids are brats and like to cause problems. They will ride their bikes around the front of our house and rip out the flowers from our yard. I know because I saw the small trail of petals leading up to them. They have also thrown rocks in our backyard. Pebbles, actually. They pile them up and throw them. I don't know what to do. I have talked to their parents, but they deny it completely, claiming that their kids weren't at home that day. Their excuses are ridiculous because I can hear their kids laughing and swimming in their pool in the afternoons when this stuff often happens. I've already threatened to call the police several times, but I doubt the police would really care about these little things. But lately the kids have been using a slingshot of some sort to crack my bedroom windows. It is extremely frustrating! What should I do??
First of all, you do need to call the police. That's an act of vandalism. You should not have to put up with that. Have you tried to talk to the kids yourself? They know that the things they are doing bothers you, so they do it even more. Wave and smile at them when you see them. Kindness kills for some people. In other words, it may be hard for you to be kind to these children, after all the things they have done, but you as a adult invite them over sometime, get to know them a little. Hopefully soon when they or you, go on vacation, you both will be taking care of each others house. PEACE!!!!! Do what I did... Go out of your way to be nice to these little brats. Say hi to them and smile a big *** fake smile. Offer them candy and treats and cozy up to the parents whenever you can. Trust me it actually worked. The little brats don't bother me a bit anymore because they like me and think I like them even though I wish they would move to Grrenland. lol Set up a video camera and catch the brats in the act and show their parents. If they don't do anything after that then press charges for destruction of property
