Neighbors kids ruining the sale of my home? |
I'm trying to sell my home, right when a family with 9 kids across the street moved in. My neighborhood used to be about as quiet and relaxing as they come by. Anyhow, these kids are all loud crazy and obnoxious. Thbey throw sticks, scream, yell, ride bikes skate boards all right smack in front of my driveway. It goes on all freakin day and into the evening. So today I lost it. I walked to the top of my driveway and started screaming. No calling them names, not cusing, just screaming. I yelled as loud as i can, "I can do this all day long too." Lets all yell and scream all day long." Then I screamed some more, went in the house. I've never done anything like this before, I am very quiet and keep to myself. They scared off two potential buyers today and I got angry. Talking to these people does not good, so it's fire with fire. I'm looking for some good tips, on how I might legal annoy the hell out of them to get my message across. Sweet talk and amends will not work here. Most cities have laws against noise. Check with city hall to find out what they are and the limits. make notes about when the noise is excessive and the time and date. Leave a note for your neighbor stating the noise problem, make a copy for your own files. You can send a few. Call the police and get them to give you some sort of paper work (on the spot) saying when they came and what they saw. Getting the poilice files later can be hell. Make a tape recording (from inside your home) illustrating exactly how noisey the kids are. If te kids scare away potentinal buyers, get something in wrting from the scared buyers. The notes and the witnesses should be enough for a strong case in small claims court. Make sure you get everything in writing and keep copies of what you send out. I worked for renters rights and I saw cases like this all the time. Evidence is everything. Could you bribe the kids long enough to sell the house? I think if you annoy them, they will annoy you back even more, when buyers are there. Maybe advertise your home as great for a family... They'll have a bunch of friends to choose from across the street. Hopefully the right buyers will come along Feel free to call up the police station and have the police talk to the children and the parents. Either that or you and the rest of your neighbors should all go over to this house at the same time and tell the head of the household/parents what the problem is and how you suggest fixing it. Get in touch with your city's code enforcement, and police department. Write up complaints, your neighbors will be fined if they are in violations with the city's ordinances. dang guy ...thats what kids do...they play ...its better they work off all the energy playing than vandalizing your house....you are turning into a grumpy old man....remember when you were a kid and there was some grumpy old a hole in your comunity...thats you |
