What is the typical punishment for a juvenile who stole a bike? |
Two of my childrens bikes were stolen and I immediately knew who it was because I saw 2 neighborhood boys on the side of my house eyeing the bike. I went to the boys house and my mother immediately called the police. One kid I know and he really isn't a bad kid. He goes to school with my son as well. Since the incident, he has been taken to jail. What can I expect to happen to him. Depends on the value of the bike. If it exceeds 100 dollars its a felony believe it or not. If this is his first offensive, the judge might give him community service or probation. They WON'T sentence him to juvenile hall more than likely. Also you might have to pay a fine since you are his parent. Reading in that they are juveniles... Nothing. They will be released after a hearing wherein their fathers will promise to slap them around a bit and blame the kids they hang out with. Their mothers will cry and plead the court's forgiveness sniffling out that they don't know what to do with them anymore. The delinquents (excuse me, boys) will be dressed nicer than Sunday church and say things like, "Yes Sir Your Honor" and "We're Sorry Your Honor" and "We Promise To Never Do Anything Like This Again Sir" all the while brandishing a smug, go "F" yourself smirk on their faces. Then once back out on the street, you can expect them to beat the crap out of your son for you turning them in. They'll more than likely vandalize your home and everything outside it. And to top it all off, you'll probably have a nervous breakdown or heart attack from all the stress you've subjected yourself to. Your son will hate you because you've made him the punk runt of the neighborhood and school. He'll more than likely start doing drugs and model himself after the two cretins that started all this. Then to come full circle. You can expect to be the sniffling mother begging a judge's forgiveness for all the trouble your son is now in ! in the uk theft is taken very seriously and even if a first offence if you get community service you have gotton off likely! however it is unlikely he will goto jail! expect a fine and possibly curfew! something small since it is only a bike, if its a young child i'm very suprized why he would even be in jail Slap on the wrist |
