Bike size. Should I get a 24" or a small men's 26" (is that 16" frame??). kid is 4'11" |
his inseam is 25" I work in a bike shop part time and deal with this regularly. No two or three 4'11" riders are exactly alike, so without seeing this "live", it sounds like a small men's 26 inch wheeled bike might be the better option. They are sized by frame size instead of wheel size. It sounds like a 13 or 15 inch frame should work IF that rider fits safely on the size in question. DO have a bike shop fit the rider to the bike. Most bike shops have tremendous experience with young riders. 26, he can always grow into it http://brandscycle.com/page.cfm?pageid=2... Check this out. It should help. I would have a bike shop do a fitting for him. I hesitate to say "he'll grow into it" without seeing him on both bikes. Buying a bike that is too big at first is an accident waiting to happen. Sounds like he could be on the borderline. |
