Boxer question really need your help!? |
we have a 8 month old boxer,shes a good girl but when it comes to kids or kids on bikes she becomes very aggressive and protective,she bites them so we tied her up for som time.But the that didnt last 1 minute since VBoxers neck is bigger than their heads its easy for her to get atta her collar.So we could never control her.So we are wonering if a spike collar would help? Would it hurt hr if she tried to take it off?thats what were looking for so she would not be able to get otta it.If that would be possible where can i buy some cheap ones? Keeping her tied up is not going to help. It can actually make her more aggressive. If you are referring to a prong-collar (pinch collar), this is not a good thing to use if she is going to be tied or chained. They are meant to be used with a leash as a training aid ONLY. You'll be paining some hefty vet bill getting it removed from her neck if you tie her up with this on! We have a large male doberman. He is not aggressive at all, but he doesn't realize how big he is, so when there are small children, he is either on leash or in the 10wx30Lx6h chain link pen with a concrete floor. I see no point in the possibility of a child getting hurt or scared when it is totally avoidable. She needs to be going to training classes, to help her react properly around kids. Tying her up, isn't going to do anything. Why are you letting her out front where she'd see the kids, anyways? Keep her in the backyard, instead of ''tied up''. she has to learn to be gentle around the kids so make sure the kids dont rough house around her. a harness will help with her not being able to escape the chain. you can get one at a pet supply store for between $10 and $20. No dog deserves to be tied up outside. In fact, in the neighborhood where I live it is illegal. You need to (a) Set up a fencing system for the dog for when you want to put her outside or (b) Keep her inside. Even more important is that is to get her into a training class. If you have her tied up, I doubt she has been socialized much at all. In addition to training, I suggest taking her to the local dog park where she can socialize freely (under your watchful eye) with all sorts of people and dogs, and she will get acclimated to these kinds of things. Try a harness instead of a collar. That straps around the chest and legs too so can't slip off. Also, you need to keep her on a very tight leash, but start socializing her more. It sounds like she is agressive from lack of expose to that sort of stimuli. Best way to break it is to bring it around more often and get her used to it. your boxer sucks itself |
