I'm really into servant evangelism..is there anything more wonderful than serving others in Jesus name? |
Every week our group from Church does some community project, sometimes throwing a block-party in a poor area of our city (everything is FREE)...or giving away free bikes to kids. But last Christmas eve we gave out Christmas presents to over 450 children..they were in groups according to age. I went to the 3rd floor of this building and knocked on this door where I found 3 children (alone) I asked if they would like some presents..the older one said NO..but then opened the door and said the 2 younger one's would take them, I came back up with a present for each of them, you would have thought I gave them a million dollars. I spent 4 hours with them..holding the 2 year old girl the entire time (she got a baby doll). This I believe this is what Jesus called us to do Matt 5:4. We can study the word, we can discuss the word..but is there anything better than DOING his word? I have never been against the spirit of community in religion. Stories like this remind some of us that it is not all bad. Then you can read the two posts above mine and remember that a) Some people will always hate you. b) some people will turn everything towards the fanatical. How about serving me a beer? No, there isn't. :) Keep up the good work, friend. It is really inspiring to hear others at work. You mean like keeping it to yourself? If you're stuck on a topic for your next bible study, suggest Matthew 6:5, specifically, if not the whole chapter. It's the greatest most fulfilling feeling in the world just to know that I've done something that pleases my Savior. Be doers not hearers only. Keep it up! I have to agree with you completely. |
