My neighbor's small Poodle is a biter, what should i do? |
My neighbor and his wife, who i am friends with, have a small Poodle who has bitten several of their relatives(even drawing blood from his brother) and they seem to think this is funny. While they think it's not a big deal because the dog has done no real serious damage, this concerns me because they are being irresponsible pet owners. There are small kids in our neighborhood and they let this dog roam freely. A couple of other neighbors have voiced their displeasure to me about it. I think they are intimidated by my neighbor who owns the Poodle because he is a big guy(6'4,310) who is known to be a bit of a hot head. I'm not afraid of him(i'm an ex-boxer) and i have tried to talk to him and his wife about this, but they seem to think it's not a big deal. What can i do to keep peace in my neighborhood but at the same time, make sure the kids are all safe? This dog has chased a kid on her bike before and the owners actually laughed about it. This is not cool. What should i do about this? This should not be taken as a joke. Although there hasn't been any serious injuries yet, there's no saying what will happen in the future. About four or five years ago, I too had a dog. She was what was considered "timid". This meant she was afraid of everyting and everything. She would either run from something, or she would bite it. We had two choices for her. 1. We could put her behind our garage in a little lock-down fence area where she would have no contact with people. or 2. We would simply have to put her down, because a dog of her nature may go off on anybody. What I would reccomend you doing, is calling either your animal control officers, or the police department. I know that he is your neighbor and don't want to cause any problems, but when you are talking about children being chased down the block, I don't think you have much of a choice. You still could remain annymous, but either way, you need to report this immediatley before a neighbor, child, or anybody gets seriously hurt. The Animal Control and police department will start off by giving a warning, then they will start handing out tickets. I would say, if this is the case, if you ever see the dog loose at anytime not on a leash, call them, and they will take care of it. This is not something to wait on. Arm yourself with a squirt gun and don't spare the ammo! Been there, done that. Contact animal control or your police station and make an anonymous complaint. i didnt read the hole thing but if the dog bites you or someone you love then sue the same thing happen to my pitbull he was a loving dog and bit someone to same me i all most had to put him down me Call the police or a dog catcher anonymously. |
