Tip the paper person? Tip the postal person? |
Do we tip these people. I remember when the daily paper used to be delivered by a kid on a bike and it was perfectly decent to give him a little money at Christmas. But now the paper is delivered by an adult with a car. Does he get a tip? How about the mail person? I used to live in a very metropolitan area and tipping the mailmail was custom but do you do it in a rural area too? Tipping the mailguy in NYC assured you that your packages would arrive in one piece all year long. But in Maine where the package can safely be left on your front step - is tipping still called for. you arnt allowed to tip a us government worker, you can give them a nice card or a small gift but no cash.tipping the paper boy is a nice way to say thank you. It can't hurt but in genneral it is not heard of I don't tip the mailwoman. Don't I pay taxes for that? Also, my newspaper delivery guy -- huh? tip him? No, I pay for a subscription to the paper. Yeah, I'll give them both a tip -- buy low sell high You like getting important mail, packages, paychecks, refunds, magazine you like to read. TRY not tipping them and see what happens. Its safer to keep them very happy!! They are just doing their job, why tip? I live in Maine too, never tipped and never had a lost package. I don't the mailman gets a perfectly good salary. Unless you see him on a daily basis and he does something like hand you your packages instead of throwing them on the porch and I am talking daily. (same thing with paper guy) Having grown up rural CT, and now live in suburban sprawl CA, I can safely say tipping those people is good in any residential type. No matter where you are, it's always good to appease the ones that deliver to you, lest your mail/paper gets "lost". |
