Used 2006 Suzuki S40 Boulevard : Should I buy it? |
Friend works at car dealership. Asking $3795. 1500 miles. Kelly Blue Book trade in $2300. Kelly Blue Book Retail is $3375. I'm 5' 9", 210 first bike in 25 years-kids finally grown. Is this a good starter bike for me and what is a fair price to offer? 1 Car dealers routihely 'steal' bikes from bikers who trade at car dealers. Sometimes they'll put $0 actual cash value into the motorcycle. Never more than 1/2 kelly wholesale. 2. The bike is good but not for your stature. You're too tall for the little Savage turned Boulevard. 3. For same money consider a used Kawasaki Vulcan 750. I used to have bike rental companies who would buy sight unseen all the VN750's I could get them. May well be the best ever Japanese cruiser. Nearly bullet proof! Source(s): 40 years in the business I think it's too spendy at the asking price, even for a car dealer. Offer $3300 (more or less) out the door, and work around that to start. Show the Blue Book figures. These are cool little bikes that once you're in 5th, you don't really need to shift. Nice torquey little scoot. Tank is sort of small, so fill-ups are often, even at 65 mpg. Your friend wants too much for this bike, look into a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 or the new 900 it will fit you perfect. |
