How do i get out a VERY deep scratch on my BRAND NEW CAR HELP!!? |
Alright i just bought a NEW Mazda 6 and the kid next door rode his bike up my driveway and took the metal handle bars (for 10 speed bike) down my hood....It is deep in one spot (about 4 inches long 1/2 inch deep) but not as deep in the other what can i do...I just bought this car and just paid my first payment on it I AM SICK!! The parents said they would pay but i dont want to rip them they are TOO nice i just want a cheap PERMANENT fix Please help me help my new baby! There is no such thing. Only a surface scratch can come out with buffing, polish, or scratch x. The hood needs to get repainted, especially if you can see black or white underneath the paint. Let the parents know that the bill will be 300-500 dollars to get it done right and that they should start hitting their kid more often so long as he costs so much money. The dealership can buff it out for you. The kid needs to work off any payments.... mow your yard, walk the dog, whatever. turn it into your insurance company. if you have full coverage. then ask the neighbor who's child did it to pay your deductible get a quote from a body shop. it might even be less then your deductible if it is ask your neighbor if they would go half with you? better to get something from them then nothing Have the kids parents pay for it or turn it in to THEIR insurance company. It should be covered under their homeowner's policy. If not, it's still their issue, not yours. If you turn it in on your policy, your premiums will go up. As deep as you describe - the hood is going to have to be repainted. This is going to be a good life lesson for the kid - it's not life threatening - and enough to make him think about what he's doing in the future. Have the parents cover it. Take it to the dealer, to have it filled and painted. You can't buff out a 1/2 deep scratch. Auto Detailer for 7 years I'd try waxing before letting a professional look at it. About 10 years ago, my buddy came by with his new 4runner. My dog ran out and began jumping up on his door. I couldn't believe the scratches. I was just horrified. We went and grabbed some wax and buffed them right out. If your scratches are REALLY deep or show bare metal, take it to a pro and let them fix it for you. Home repair jobs always end up looking like...well, home repair jobs. Best Wishes, Dennis |
