2006 Suzuki S40 Boulevard or 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800? |
My choices are down to these two bikes for the same price...about $2900. Looking for good bike to get back into riding after 25 year Hiatus (kids). Which would you choose? One important thing to remember is that the Suzuki is a one-lunger. You'll get good torque, but it'll tire out quickly at higher speeds. If you plan on doing a lot of highway riding, get the Kaw. But if you'll be doing mostly city riding, with a few trips to the highway, get the Suzuki. (The Suzuki is also lighter and is easier to maintain because of the simpler engine; unfortunately, it's tiny 2.8 gallon fuel tank means frequent trips to the station). Ultimately, pick the one that will best suit your needs and riding style. Definetly the Kaw Loves to ride! The Kawi is a lot more bike and I would buy it if you like the styling and the mileage is low, say under 20K... The Suzuki is a good old standby if you want the smaller, simpler, bike, and the belt drive is nice. So buy the one that feels best to you.. If you are just getting back into riding after 25 years, I would choose the Boulevard. It's a gorgeous bike, it's got great torque and it's somewhat lighter and nimbler than the Kawi - it's also 5 years newer so you'll have less problems with it. Have fun whatever bike you decide to buy and keep the shiny side up. |
