Should I tell an adult? |
Okay, I was riding my bike down a street when I spotted two older kids from my school (eighth graders, I'm seventh). I noticed a puff of smoke coming from the mouth of one of them coming every few seconds, and it was near 70 degrees, so it couldn't of been from cold. I was confused, so I got closer to them and saw a cigarette in his hands. I quickly road by and told my friend exactly what I saw. She thinks I should tell my school counseler, but I'm not sure. The boy who was smoking is kinda popular and would know it was me who told, because he saw me see the cigarette. I'm honestly not sure what to do, but I could use some opinions. I'm not sure you should tell anyone as I don't think anyone would do anything about it. Sometimes kids don't have very good parents and the parents could care less what the child does. In this case, the child should smell like smoke and the parents should be able to tell if he is smoking and set appropriate rules for the child. Since he wasn't smoking during school hours or on school property, I'm not so sure the guidance counselor could or would do anything about it. If you see people doing this or taking drugs or drinking on school property, I would certainly discuss this with the counselor. What you could do is ask the school counselor general questions regarding smoking, alcohol and illegal drugs. Ask the counselor what activities she or he would like to hear about and under what circumstances. its nobody's business what people do with their lives. you shouldnt tell anyone. Yes You Should! I think you should just forget it. He doesnt care about his health. Let him smoke. Don't worry about counseling. Emy; why don't you just discuss this with your mom or dad? I think it is wonderful to see a young lady of your age who has such a strong moral compass. Then your dad could talk to the other boy's dad and let them know that he is smoking. Good luck -k- Here's what you do: Have some friends walk with you when you walk by him. After that get some people to walk by him when he smokes and then just make sure you tell alot of people to see him smoking. Then tell and he won't know who it was! Don't tell a school advisor..it just could get out of hand and people at school would look at you differently.. Tell your mom or dad and have them call or talk to his parents |
