Land Rider bicycle, Advice Plz?

I'm thinking about getting this land rider bike.

http://www.landriderbikes.com/landrider_...

On the site, it seems like a good bike for a new cyclist, like myself. The last time I rode a bike, I was still a kid, so I'm scared of shifting.

So what do more experienced think of this bike? Is it a good bike or not? Would you get it?

Automatic shifting on a bicycle never works as well as advertised. Either it doesn't shift or it shifts at the wrong time.

Shifting isn't hard to figure out; you just change gears until your cadence is comfortable. If you accidentally shift in the wrong direction, no harm is done and you simply shift in the other direction. After a few rides it becomes almost instinctive.

Please PLEASE stay away from that bike. It is a very poor example of engineering and it really doesn't work well despite the advertising hype.

I understand that shifting may have been a real source of apprehension years ago, but now (with the exception of bikes you find at department stores) shifting is almost a no brainer.... just pedal forward and click the shifter into gear... no more "grind and find".

So, I suggest that you visit your local bike shop with the same amount of money you would spend on the LandRider (don't forget shipping and handling) and talk with someone. In addition to getting a MUCH better bike you will also get some valuable tips on riding, service, and become a part of the bike riding family.

i would never, ever buy that bike. I didn't see anywhere to find specs (may have been overlooked) but that surely doesn't look like "$700 bike quality".
