I want to get back into motorcycle riding. What is a good reintroduction bike for me? |
I used to ride a lot as a kid YZ80s,etc... I was thinking about starting out with a Honda Nighthawk 250cc.. Honda Aero 750 or Vulcan 900 trust me just go sit on one and you will leave on it Suzukis are great. For your size (or anyone else's) a 250 is only good for riding around neighborhoods or downtown. It isn't going to have the power to be safe on the highway. Try the Suzuki S50 or C50. The S series has a nice chopper look to it, but is very light and nimble. Hydraulic clutch and brake levers make it easy to figure out when you are just starting out. The S has an 805cc water/air cooled engine, and is shaft driven, so maintenance is minimal. Gas and oil are pretty much all you have to worry about and you can pick one up new for about $7k or used for much less. Im 6'1" and I ride a CBR1100, I have a friend who is 6'7" and he rides a gixa 750-1000. Get something bigger than a 250 if you are that size, I suggest you take a course before going on the road, I would get a 750 if you are going for a cruiser, 500 minimum. At your size I would get a larger bike in the 500 to 650 range ! And personally I hate Hondas try something better like a Suzuki or Kawasaki good choice.................... |

All mine rode 2 wheelers without the trainers by 4 years old. I'm not bragging, don't take it that way. My son believe it or not took longer to ride. Since this is her first two-wheele... Bring the lower end up!! THat's going to be the only way to do it. Get a lot of backfill dirt. My step mother had to do the same with her yard. Now it has a fence around it..beautiful gras... Yes it was Pie in the Sky and aired in the mid 80s "PIE SHIP to pieman!" ...I don't think we give kids the credit due. I must admit my mother was in the same situation and I was the kid. I understood what my mother had to do. I hate leaving the area and my friends but... You'll probably have to search the Internet and see if there is anything available.
