Bike and training wheels?

Today is my daughter's 4th bday and we got her her first 2 wheeler bike with training wheels. She got the hang of riding really quickly. So I guess me question is, how do do you know when your kid is ready for the training wheels to be removed? Whats an appropriate age to start trying without training wheels?

All mine rode 2 wheelers without the trainers by 4 years old. I'm not bragging, don't take it that way. My son believe it or not took longer to ride. Since this is her first two-wheeler, let her ride it for a little while first, then take them off. See how she does. Let her ride on the grass. It's harder to ride, but not as hard when she falls, and she will. If she acts too scared, you can always put the trainers back on again. Tell her congratulations on being a big girl!

My daughter got her first bike with training wheels for her 3rd birthday (to make her get rid of the paci) She turned 5 in Feb and she got a 'big girl 2 wheeler' with no training wheels which she immediately freaked out on, she got the new bike because she outgrew the little bike with the training wheels but she's still scared to ride without them.... we took the training wheels off the little bike so she can scoot around and get used to balancing on the baby bike before she hits the big time. It was a tip from the Schwinn dealer so we tried it - still hasn't gotten on the big one but she's very comfortable with balancing her little bike so far. As horrible as it sounds if there's not a group of big kids (or adults) on 2 wheeled bikes teasing the 'babies' I think they will just cruise at their own speed - she'll let you know when she's done with the T wheels! Good luck and get some ban-aids just in case :)

my son just learned a couple of months ago(he is 3). we took one training wheel off so he could learn balance then after a week he wanted the other one off.try taking one off and see if she can balance you can always put it back on,but be ready for a lot of scrapes.

You can just try and if it doesnt work out put them back on. There is no specific age that children ride their bikes without training wheels, it is different for each child.

I would wait for her to decide she is ready. Kids need the confidence to try new things and only she can tell you when she has that confidence.
