HOW DO i ASSEMBLE my MOTOR SCOOTER BATTERIE?

THERE ARE 3 wires..the posative..negative and a black wire with a rubber cap on the end..also 2 screws/2washers/two nuts...does te 3rd wire (probably for alarm) go to the posative??where d i put the washers?.posative 1st or neg 1st attach..please help b4 i kick my new scooter over in frustraton..thanks

Smart woman, okay listen up here is the correct answer to your problem.

1. Hopefully your battery is a dry one, if not it should have come with electrolytes to place inside the battery.
2. Place the nuts inside the battery post on top because the screws has to screw inside of them.
3. Three wires right? The black wire goes to the negative post and the other two wires go to the positive post.
4. The washers are optional, you can use them or not use them.

Now, hopefully there is a full charge on the battery. Remember to prime your Carburetor. An easier way of doing so is to remove the top cap of the Carb (being held down by two screws) and pour about three soda caps of gas inside. Place the top back on (put the screws back) and start the bike. You may have a kill switch on it so make sure that it's switched on. Put the bike up on it's full legs, not the kick stand. Hold the brakes and push the electric start button.

You doing just fine, hope that you enjoy your new buy.

Happy Hunting and
Good Luck

The smaller black is most likely a chassis ground ( ground to frame). But if it's black it does not go to +.
As far as the cables , connect + first, then - when ever working on anything even close to electrical ,remove -.
The washers go on the screws between the screw head and the cables terminal.

I am guessing the so called 3rd wire with the rubber cap on the end is actually an overflow or vent tube, not an electrical connection.

most motorcycle batteries have a small square metal post that you slip the nut in (this prevents the nut from turning), then the terminal that is part of the cable on the bike, with the washer on top of that with the screw going thru the washer, the cable terminal, the square battery terminal into the nut.

connect the postive (+ probably RED) first, then the negative (- probably BLACK)...

maybe the 3rd is some type of anti-theft alarm??? but I have never seen a 3rd "wire" on any type of battery for a bike.

good luck and hope that helps
