What should I do with my scooter?

I recently bought a 150cc scooter. It rained pretty heavily last night , and im not sure that has anything to do with it, but now it won't start. I tried the electric and kick start, and i can hear it crank for about a second but it refuses to turn all the way over and crank all the way. Any ideas?

Do the following.

Take off the HT lead then remove the spark plug, turn over the engine quite a few times using the kick start to clear out excess petrol . Clean spark plug and put it back in being careful not to cross thread it, put the HT lead back on. Get some water repellent spray such as WD40 and spray the HT leads well...dont use the electric start as thats for girlie wimps, (the battery is probably pretty flat so dont make it worse). Try to start the bike with the kick start and see what happens.

In future get a water proof cover for the bike, they dont cost much and keep most of the crap off if you need to park it outside

probly waterin the air filter or carb is causing it not to start nothing to do with electrical because you said you tried to kick start it. When water and gas mix it causes the carb to flood out and then it wont start.

One writer gave you some good advice. The bottom line is to get it dried out. Then when dry, try starting it. Use the kick starter as previously instructed. If no start, then look at a wet plug connection. Easy to determine and fix. If you have a friend detach the plug wire keeping it near the plug. Have your friend listen or see if he can hear or see the arking of the voltage from the spark plug wire to the plug. He should not be in contact with the spark plug wire. If no voltage passes, then the electric system is wet. A remedy is to keep the bike in the sun, or, round up some hair dryers and try to dry the wiring system out, or, if still under warranty, get it back to the dealer.

After your moisture problem is solved, check your manual and find out if you can use a waterproofing solution on parts which may be vulnerable. It's a cheap remedy available at any Auto Repair outlet and Wal-Marts.

One other piece of advice is to cover up you bike. Even high end bikes will have problems with moisture, be it dew, or rain storms. Protect it to ride it. A little TLC will go a long way to keeping you on the road for a very long and happy period.
