New Scooter won't Start-what could be the problem? |
Just assembled a New Scooter. Had a little help. Charged the Battery. Turned the key and can't get nothing, not even kick start. What could be the problem? I saw my helper trying to kick start it without the battery being installed. The engine does not even try to turn over. Remove the sparkplug and ground to metal, kick the tart lever. See a spark? If not there's a problem with the electrics. Could be the CDI which most of the Chinese scoots are using and with a pretty high failure rate. Got spark. Good. Chances are you are not getting fuel. You did put gas in, right? Pull the little hose off the carb and see if the fuel is making it that far. If not look for a blockage from there back to the tank. Maybe a twisted or crimped hose. Got delivery to the carb? See if any made it down into the carb bowl. Well if you have gas and spark the only thing missing is air. Assure that someone hasn't left a wrapper or something between the carb ad the airbox. MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE KILL SWITCH ON THE RIGHT HANDLEBAR IS IN THE ON POSITION. Incidently, assuming you get the scooter running be advised that the batteries the Chinese put in those scooters are really junk. Replace it now if you like a headlight brighter than a firefly. Make and model and gas or electric and I'll help you. Kick start an electric. I'm fooled. Many possible problem. Just assembled? "get nothing" meaning ..... no lights anywhere??? |
