Aprilia Habana 50 CC starting problems? |
Having a problem with the scooter, at first it wouldn't start, have charged the battery and changed the sparks so now it finally starts unfortunately it runs for about a minute before it stalls and then its difficult to start again, any suggestions what the issue could be and to fix it? Oil is topped up and petrol is full, there is also pressure in the carb but no matter what it stalls, i've cleaned the air filter as well but still no luck, it isn't possible to start the scooter with the kick start but not sure if that is a related issue, thanks for any help. J ok, have tried running it without the petrol cap and its no different, its also a new spark plug so that should be ok, will try adjusting the air on the carb but does anyone else have any other ideas? try cleaning out your carburetter as you may not have a fuel filter on your bike any muck that gets into the tank will find its way into the carburetter and give you this sort of problem the easiest way of doing this is using a fuel cleaner such as redex after you put the redex in mix it around the tank bu moving the bike from side to side to get the fuel sloshing around Try to start it with ur petrol tank cap removed and see if it works. if it doenst clean the vent in the cap. Other checks could be plug gap, carb settings like idle an air screw. You are right shouldnt matter how you start it, kick or button. :) Chk the stator and the starter itself you my have a charging problem ? try new battery. It could also be jets in carb is blocked especially if it has been stood for quite some time. Also check that leads to battery are not corroded, the neutral lead attaches to the frame so check that also. I'd try adjusting the mixture screw, screw all the way in, then out about 1 1/2 turns, then when its running try adjusting to see what happens, try to remember how many turns the best setting was at. if its not that it could be the reed valves, these are located inside under the carb, take the carb off and see if the reeds are sealing and are not broken up or cracked Same problem with my scooter, engine idle speed was incorrect, just adjust the screw to the rpm in your manual also it can be something as simple as incorrect valve clearence |
