So what are a Dogs rights if they are teased and tormented?

What if a dog was kicked in the back legs and it bit someone would the dog have to be put down?
What if the dog had kids through things at him and bark at him and he bit one?
I ask beacuse when on holiday my mates dog was tided to the caravan and these kids drove round him with scooters and barked at him drove him mad but i'm afraid of dogs and even i know he's a perfectly safe and freindly dog would never harm anyone but yet if he had broken off and bit one of those kids he would have been put down? that hardly seems fair (jus so you know the owner of the dog came out and gave those kids what for)

I had a german shepherd who was teased and teased daily by the same kid, he used to kick our gate and shout at them then run away i also found plastic pellets in the yard from kids air guns. One day he kicked the gate and it came open and when she (the dog) came out he threw a water bomb at her so she chased him and bit him on his side. There was a puncture about 1cm on his side.
I was took to court and had to pay 拢1000 which half was compo for the kid and the other half to pay court costs. The kid lied and said my dog just came out of the yard and bit him but the only witness who was prepared to say in court what had happened was his friend who was with him at the time, who didnt get bit as he didnt tease the dogs.
I dont think this was very fair on my side but i bet that kid wont tease dogs again,
I was also close to not being allowed to keep dogs again and to start with the courts were trying to get the dog put down but decided against it. The case took a year to sort out and it was taken to crown court which i think was a total waste of time and money.

Well more than likely yes, but the bloody stupid kids would have deseved it anyway..!

The only way a dog would not be put down would be if someone was trespassing on your property...and that person was bitten by your dog....x

i agree completely. sadly there are no rights for dogs in these situations, its up to us - the owners and carers of the dogs to protect them from the cruelty of children or abusers in this way. Maybe somethime a new law will be passed to say that dogs and other animals have the same rights as humans...

i hate seeing little sh!ts of kids annoying dogs, because as you said if the dog bit (which would be nothing less than the brats deserve)the brat, the childs parent could insist that the dog be put down. I always give out to kids when i see them being cruel to any animal, its one thing that really upsets me, i blame the parents, not teaching the kids to be kind to animals, It s not fair though and i do think if i was ever in that situation that i would take legal action but i dont think i'd have much legal standing in a case like that. Its not fair

cowards take of advantage of animals because they have no voice-these people can be reported to the RSPCA,who may take action against them.

that is super cruel and no i dont think it is fair at all because if they torment them then they dhould be punished like if my dog bit someone because they were mean to her i would seriously go to court for my dogs rights!

If the dog was to bite and If it can be proved that the dog was teased (witness statements) and it went to court (Dangerous Dogs Act) a good solicitor/barrister should ensure that the dog is not destroyed (as this is no longer mandatory if prosecuted under the DDA) With the help of behavioural assessments carried out by experts in this Field, however a control order may be issued (muzzle, leash etc) But this is all at the magistrates discretion.

However if there are no witnessed to the incident under the DDA the BURDEN OF PROOF is reversed, so the owner would have to prove that their dog was not a danger to the public, this would be done with the aid on behavioural experts,both for the defence and prosecution but ultimately the decision would be up to the magistrates as to who's evidence they believed on the day.

Hmmm...dogs have the rights to attack when threaten like my dog,some how or rather,I was quarrelling with my friend which purposely tore my branded bag my 3 dogs were right beside me when I got mad and pushed her down she too got mad and kicked one of my male dog out of sudden,he pounced on her and bit her when I shouted at him to let go of her hand and rushed her to the hospital in the end,I had to pay for her medical bills instead of she paying for my bag.Me as an animal lover and helper in stars(save the animal rights society)says that that is their instinct so should not get put down.He!He!...

The owners of the dog would have a good argument. Their dog was restrained, not running loose and attacking people. The kids were tormenting the dog and, in my opinion would've deserved to be bitten.
How come the owners didn't clear the kids off or take the dog inside?

Well first of all... make those retarded kids stop doing that. And the dogs just probably trying to stand up for itself. Putting the dog down for that would be a little to drastic.

This happens all over the world my friend. Some saddist people would do it to helpless animals to torment them for fun.

We can only help these animals by reporting the abusers to authorities, let the law handle them.

When a dog bites, the law will put the dog down no matter who is the cause (which usually is the humans that caused him this way, e.g. abused dog tends to be defensive and bites to save themselves from the next torment)

Lastly, it's NOTok to tie a dog up when owners are on holidays, pls talk to your friend to find a proper pet hotel or care taker for their dogs when they are away.

i think any one who teases a dog should be bi ten coz the dog can't say stop it i've had enough they will just bite thats the dogs instinct so no they shouldn't be put down the people who teas them should be xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The kids are rotten, but the dog would have suffered the consequences unfortunately.

the kids parents are to blame lots of parents need to show there kids whats right and wrong Ive got 4 kids and i would be so disgusted if that was 1 of mine doing that i just hope ive shown them wots right!!!! thy deserve to get bit

Get rid of your dog so that you will have peace of mind. Try owning cats. At least their meowing is less bothersome.
