What would happen to the scooter? |
Hi i have a 22cc motorized scooter and i have to mix the gas. Alcohol is about the worst fuel you can produce for a combustion engine! It is terribly INEFFICIENT and can cause a lot of damage to MOST engines. Have to mix the gas- as in mix with oil probably. Mix ethanol to right ratio- this usually means 10% ethanol mix to 90% gas. The 2 stroke oil is 20:1 to a 50:1 ratio fuel to oil. Probably run OK for awhile, not much different than straight gas/oil mix- only concern is crankcase seals not being capable of sealing with ethanol film, might degrade seals- the 10% ethanol blend is common in Wisconsin and Iowa, 2 strokes running on it often, not the prefrred fuel becuase of possible seal problems but is done. If you mean straight ethanol with oil mix- engine probably won't start, depends on ignition power, a simple magneto with a .025 plug gap probable will need a gasoline start mix, a HEI system with a .050/.060 plug gap might start OK. Straight 99% alcohol in tank with no oil mix is asking for cylinder scrape and piston skirt failure- early Honda Sprees had this happen when people didn't check oil tanks , first couple years of production didn't have oil minders. The old premix bikes from DKW continental design had people forget to mix oil- same siezure of piston problem and about 1/2 the time had crankshaft rod bearing failures beside. Hi, internal combustion engines will run on just about any fuel that burns. The problem is to find the right mixture to burn well and not destroy your engine through lack of lubrication or over heating. 1. Ethanol has a lower heat content (energy) than gas, so it would not run as well, less power. 1. Doubt it would run but it would almost surely overheat and seize if it did. Im getting cold chills just thinking about all that raw power it would develope do not mix your oil with anything but gas. |
