How can i get my scooter running after it has sat for a while?

I drained all the old gas, put in fresh premium gas.
I drained the old has from the carb
When I use starter fluid she will stay on for a couple of minutes and now I got her to a point where none is needed just crank and she will start, but will not stay one for more than a couple minutes
I am still waiting on my new spark plug, the old one is black at the top is that the problem?


Its is 2001 sundiro fi-phoenix
Less than 100 miles on her
Last run about 5 or 6 years ago
4 stroke engine
Basically Honda since sundiro and Honda are junction companies and my key even says Honda haha

Sounds like a gas starvation problem. Check for a fuel filter or screen by the fuel shut off. Good Luck

Pull the main jet out of the carb and clean it with carb cleaner.
It sounds like you have old bad dried up gas in the carb. It is easy to pull off and clean.

clean the carb, clean the filter, clean the fuel filter if it has one. Be careful fooling with the carb, lots of little pieces. clean, clean, clean everything.

yeah def that. carb cleaner is an aerosol and give it no end up the jets, remove them with a screwdriver if poss to clean. you can get special tool for running through jets, like tiny round files and these will work but be careful not to scratch/damage jets. it will be 99% chance of a stale fuel problem
