I'm storing my Yamaha scooter for 8 months. No gas in but what about the oil? Any other considerations?

put some gas in the tank so that rust wont form in the tank..the oil is fine to be stocked in the engine but you'll need to replace it after a long time that did not use it.

YOU SHOULD HAVE SOME GAS IN IT OR THE GASKETS IN THE CARB MAY DRIEOUT AND CRACK THEN ALSO THEY SELL A PRODUCT CALLED STABIL ITS A FUEL STABILIZER USED FOR ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD STORE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WITHOUT RUNNING AND IT WORKS GREAT AND THE OIL JUST LEAVE IT IN THERE UNTILL YOU TAKE IT OUT IN THE SPRING THEN YOU SHOULD DRAIN AND CHAGE IT ITS ALWAYS SMART TO CHANGE YOUR OIL FREQUENTLY AND NEVER OVERFILL IT THAT CAN CAUSE YOUR MOTER TO FAIL OR SIEZE UP IF IT IS CHAIN DRIVEN BE SURE TO LUBRICATE IT OR IT MAY RUST AND WONT WORK PROPER OR SMOOTHLY

theres a few things that need to b done...first i would suggest buying some fuel stablizer, mixing the right amount with said fuel and fill the scooter half way and also run scooter unyil hot (atleast 5 to 8 minutes to make sure treated fuel it completely through system.....this will save costly repairs due to fuel seperation . second air the tires down to around 20 psi. that will ensure that the tires don't develope knots (misshapeing of tire due to none use and tire pressure left at maxium ). third you will need to remove spark plug and take a small amount (i use a soda straw myself) and put about i straw full of oil in cylinder, spin motor only briefly te ensure uniform oil coat on cylinder , replace plug when finished. The oil ensures that a rust ring don't form around piston.last i will also suggest that u remove the battery and store it in a warm place and buy a trickle charger to maintain the cells.....trickle charger/battery minders can b picked up at any auto motive outlet and also walmart.........any guestions email me at captnfangdango@yahoo........hopes this helps

Fill with fresh gas, leave oil in,then when you're ready to use it,start it let engine heat up,shut off ,change oil and check tire pressure, brakes and what not,it'll be fine.Start it once a month let it warm up,then shut it off,if you're leaving then like i wrote it'll be fine. That answer above mine is not even near right, dude has no clue what he's talking about.

Could be a clogged fuel filter (easy fix). More likely it is the fuel pump (not easy and costly). Or even a bad wire/spark plug.
