I want a gas powed scooter, and I dont know which one that would be best for me please help.? |
In my town 'Shamokin , Pa' there is some big hills ,and I weigh 255 lbs. which ill probably loose some in the future. I want it to be able to go fast ' good for atleast 50mph to 60mph , or possibly something that would be good for high ways. and i want it to be good on gas. With my weight , would the scooter even run good? would it effect it in anyway? Oh yea also , what is the average gas milage for one? and will my weight also affect this? Your bike is definitely a Honda Reflex, or a Kymco People S250, no doubt! Oh yeah. I'm 5'10" and Unfort. pushing 300lbs. I have a 1979 Vespa P200E. The old Vespas are two stroke engine so it has a little more power delivery, but tends to need a little more TLC. It's a lawnmower style engine. The four strokes are catching up fast to the 2 strokes. 4 Strokes are your basic car engine I have gotten my bike up to 70mph, and it's close to stock. Also I get about 60 MPG If you want a new bike that will get you at 50-60 , try a genuine Buddy. There automatic, great little powerhouse, and inexpensive 125cc with disk brakes and the like.. The Vespas are REALLY nice, but there expensive compared to other scooters. If you got the cash, thats the bike. Piaggio is Vespa's father company, and they make a bike called the Fly. It's $2400, ( or close to it ) with the same 150CC engine that is in the hi end vespa model so that's an economic model with a boatload of cargo space. THAT will get you 60 mph out of the box. Got me up that fast. Don't go over 250cc. You won't need it on a scooter. You'll just be wasting MPG unless you want to ride with a passenger on the highway. IF your that concerned about hills, then you might want a scooter that has a manual transmission. With that if your starting to feel sluggish, you can down shift and keep your speed. For a new bike that will be the Bajaj. Cheetak or Legend. Both the same engine. Different style. If you live close to Philadelphia like me Check out the scooter shops out there. Both Phila scoots and Vespa Philadelphia are good people. A 150cc scooter will be to small for you. You will need at least a 250 or 400. Avoid off brand chinese bikes. Look at Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kymco. I ride a Suzuki Burgman 400 and get around 65mpg. You have a few pounds on me, so your mileage would probably be slightly less. Yamaha Morpheus 250. yes, the load placed on any machine has a direct and measurable impact on any vehicle. In the circumstance you give, a scooter of 250cc would be the absolute smallest engine size to give you consistent 50-60 mph on the hills. I would recommend an even larger engine but the 250cc would probably give you what you want. 60-65mpg is average for this size engine. Depending on your budget, the 400cc Yamaha or Suzuki would fit the bill, say in the 5-$6000Price range. Kymco X-citing would do well also, 3-$3500. Number of Chinese scooters available under the $2000 price, and could be of good service IF YOU can do the mechanical work it will require. |
