What happens to a gas scooter when not turned on for 2-3 years?

i have a 36cc gas scooter and I had it for 3 years now. I only rode like 3 times and now i decided to ride the scooter and the scooter wont turn on. I plugged the charger for an hour but the battery wont charge. I dont know whats wrong with it..help!!

bring the battery into an auto parts store, they will usually check it for free, gas lines may have rotted if there is fuel in the tank, and the fuel has soured (Varnished). You are supposed to "FOG" an engine with outboard "FOGGER" for long term storage, You'll have to change "Fuel", "spark plug", and start there, if it's a 4-stroke, change the oil, carbs may need cleaning or a re-build kit, fuel lines may need to be changed, next time empty the fuel at least, and remove the spark plug shoot oil into the cylinder, crank engine to lube it w/ oil, replace spark plug properly. Clean the air filter too.

My friend turned his on after 2 years. It blew up in his face. I suggest taking out the gasoline before giving it a start.

Gas has solidified into gunk. Flush it out if possible.

After three years the battery will be junk. Also over three years of no oil lubricating all the moving parts on the inside, they won't want to move. I'd put a little oil or Marvel Mystery Oil (available at an auto supply store) into the cylinders, get a new spark plug and a new battery. Drain ALL the old gas and put new in it. It should work fine after that.

p.s. may have to remove and clean the carburetor

the first concern is the gas tank. Is it metal or plastic. Was it stored empty or full. Do not run that gas through carb. In restoring honda 90s i have the tank coated. Next concern of course is seals drying up. Carb etc. To store a bike or scooter one should pull the plugs and put a tablespoon of oil in cylinder then pull it through libricating the cylinder. Then put a stabilizer such as stbil in the gas tank to stop rust and moisture. Good luck.
