well i want to build a gas powered scooter from scratch all i have is some scrap metal and i will buy the other parts later
anyways i need help on how i would go about building one of them so please help?
and btw would a lawn mower engine work for it? I built one a few years ago... I used the front half of a production push scooter with a 12" front wheel... Then I modified the frame to accept a wheelbarrow wheel that had a large diameter v-belt pulley welded onto it.. Then mounts were built above the rear wheel to accept a gutted(removed oil pump, handlebar, chassis, etc) chainsaw engine(husqvarna of course, model 294 I think) and a 5/8" jack-shaft. I then went to the local saw shop and bought a replacement clutch assembly for a husqvarna cut-off saw which allowed the use of a belt drive to the jack-shaft. Slotted pillow block mounts for the jack-shaft allowed the slack in the belt to be taken up. The drive to the rear wheel was also a belt, but used an adjustable idler wheel to keep the tension.... The throttle was hooked directly to the carb using a bicycle type lever and a custom cable bracket on the engine. The original scooter front brake was used for the stopping duties.. The engine had a hard time taking off with pulley ratios I was using so I lightened the weights in the clutch for a higher engagement rpm... It was a rather quick machine once it was going but the belts proved to be very high maintenance.... I recommend just buying a motorized scooter unless you have access to a shop and welding abilities... good luck, thats quite a large project to take on from scratch without having some prior knowledge.
you are also very vague with your information. try researching a little more, then ask more specific, informed questions What kind of lawn mower engine |
