Would you consider buying a scooter? |
With gas prices as they are, I am interesting if knowing if American car owners would consider buying a small scooter for in-town use if the cost were between US$1000-2000 for a new one (depending on size) and US$800-1000 for a used one. They get something like 60 miles per gallon. They are usually automatic shifting, too, so you would have to learn shifting--just point and shoot, basically. American driving and roads you need a motorcycle. But If I was in many other parts of the world I would get a scooter(but had a lot more with a motorcycle there as well). Where I live, there are a ton of people riding them in town! I have been surprised how many people are riding them. Report It Sure, but where I live it would be dangerous. There is no provision for scooter driving like a separate lane away from cars. I can't imagine riding a scooter on I40 E/W. Report It YA,sure. they already sell them here I wouldn't mind having a scooter. But I would be scared of getting hit by a car in New Orleans traffic. It would be convenient to have. i bought a electric scooter,,it looks like a moped and does have pedals but you charge them up and your good for 30 miles or so, Yes, some people would be interested but to ride a scooter, especially for inexperience people, would be terribly dangerous in the cities of America. In the Orient, that is the main mode of transportation and it is accepted by people in other modes of transportation Pops. I've had cars, jeeps, trucks, motorcycles, and currently drive an econo-model ford. I'd not be adverse to a scooter, but I'd be extremely careful in Dallas Metroplex traffic & probably wouldn't go anywhere unless I could take back roads instead of interstate highways. no. it's too dengarous here in the states. also, i live in Chicago, so i think it's too cold in winter time. I would love it if I could get around without using a car if only I lived in a part of America where everything wasn't so far apart. I need to learn how to use a scooter properly though. The first time I tried riding one was in the Bahamas and I crashed it into a light pole in a busy intersection. It was so humilating and all the bystanders were giving me evil looks. I deserved it though for trying to ride without a lesson. Electric is the way to go. |
